On this part of the wall it wasn’t possible to screw anything directly into the studs – something I only discovered after making the braces for it. So I deployed ZTT (Zip Tie Technology). Luckily, this section doesn’t carry much load, and I’ve got some aluminium wire doing most of the heavy lifting anyway.

I’ve also routed power to a set of lights through a wall switch, which itself is powered from my extension cord. I only ever run two or three things in the garage at once, so it’s far easier (and quieter) to run everything off mains and an extension than to mess around with a generator or a big battery. All the wiring is safe, insulated, and neatly wrapped with heat‑shrink.

The general Wimbledon area is where I am based but I'm glad to travel anywhere (within reason—I'm not buying plane tickets)
